Our mission at Hillsboro Barbell is to be the go-to place on the westside of Portland for powerlifters, strength athletes, and everyday recreational lifters—all while providing a friendly, community-driven atmosphere.

We offer a wide selection of barbells, specialty bars, weight plates, and even competition-spec equipment. Strength and powerlifting coaching is available for everyone—from complete beginners who’ve never touched a barbell to those already competing or looking to get into competition.

We also offer Nutrition Coaching, tailored to support your strength and fitness goals—whether that means cutting weight, bulking up, or simply dialing in your daily habits to improve performance and recovery. Our coaches work with you to build a sustainable nutrition plan that complements your training inside the gym.

All age groups are welcome—because it’s never too late to get started. Our primary style of training revolves around barbell and free weight movements. While that might sound intimidating at first, we’re happy to guide you through proper technique and equipment use. In our experience, barbell training is the most effective way to build strength and muscle compared to other forms of exercise.
